Evaluations/Selection Camps

Netscience goaltending facilitates an in-depth evaluation and statistical analysis of goaltenders, for the purpose of fair and analytically based outcomes during team tryouts and minor hockey evaluations.

Please allow us to take the stress and effort out of the goaltending portion of your tryout season.

Our evaluating process includes:

1. Goalie Evaluation Session - 1 per Age Group - 60-90 Minutes

Goalie Evaluation Sessions are facilitated by 4 Netscience Staff- 2 on-ice and 2 evaluators in the stands. Evaluators take notes on what they see in the stands and on-ice coaches run goalies and shooters through drills that are designed to highlight necessary skills and goaltender IQ.

Coaches and Evaluators converge after the session to complete Goaltender Evaluators Checklists and give their first impressions on each goalie's skills and personality.

Goaltenders are given a rating from 1 - 100 based on 20 fundamentals pertaining to positioning, rebound control, puck handling etc. 6 Shooters will be required.

Additional staff and shooters may be required and will depend on goaltender numbers.

2. Evaluators present for all group skill sessions, group games and Intersquad games.

During the entire evaluation process for the MHA, a goaltender evaluator will be present for Atom, Peewee, Bantam and Midget Mainstream Evaluations.

Goaltenders will have a Game Log filled out and evaluation checklists completed every time they skate for evaluations, regardless if they have been released and are being evaluated multiple times. Different evaluators will see groups independently, offering a separate perspective on each goaltender. This is useful for clarity and making hard decisions.

3. Evaluation Reports

Evaluation reports act as a guideline for those who want to make improvements and/or may be unhappy with their appointed division.

Upon request, parents will receive(multiple) evaluation checklists, and all notes taken regarding their goaltenders performance, as well as a written explanation and list of things to improve.

Evaluations are a negative time for a lot of kids. We want to help give purpose to the process by providing the feedback that many desire and request when they need an explanation.

Completed versions of our Game Log system, Evaluators Checklists and Evaluation Reports can be supplied to you upon request.

Pricing will depend on the format of tryouts and staff/time required.

Netscience can offer a definitive opinion regarding goaltender selection and division placement, though will not be a part in the process of informing/releasing players.

Evaluation Reports

Evaluation season is a stressful time for everyone, ESPECIALLY those responsible for making sure things are fair.

We provide statistics, insight and reports for all goaltenders who wish to have a clear list of things to improve on before next year's tryouts.
