For the past few seasons we have partnered with Netscience Goaltending to help develop local goaltenders within the Lashburn Minor Hockey Association. Steven Larry runs an excellent local goaltender training program. We have seen our goaltenders develop and enjoy their in-season training provided through LMHA, with several of them enrolling in offseason training at Netscience. On behalf of the Lashburn Minor Hockey Board, we would like to recommend Netscience Goaltending to other associations.
Best Regards,
Lashburn Minor Hockey Association
Our son Chaise has attended Steven Larry's camps/clinics for five years, since he first came to LMHA at 10 years of age, 1st year peewee. Netscience was a name that was referred to us for additional skill building from other parents in Lloyd and highly recommended. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED!!
Chaise attends as many clinics as he can throughout the year, whether it be tryout prep clinics, early morning sessions or skill building clinics. These clinics provide both on ice and in class training, which have been instrumental in developing skills. These never disappoint. Chaise has developed and grown in all areas. I have seen a continuous development in mental and physical skills that has helped and strengthened his game play each year.
Steven is 100% invested in development. If a student wants to learn and puts in the work, they will succeed.
Steven is very direct and is there to coach. Chaise has responded well to Steven's coaching style. Steven provides a vast variety of skill level. His clinics provide development for all ages and levels of hockey, whether that be mainstream or Elite. From personal experience, Chaise started in mainstream, then on to both A and B, and has now played AA for the past two years. He was also affiliated to the U18AA and played 3 games and was not out of place. I feel this is confidence he has gained from the clinics he has attended. Chaise has now also been receiving out of town invites to attend different league prospect camps etc. I truly feel this is in part of the playing skills Chaise has acquired from Netscience.
I have always found Steven/Netscience to be very professional. He will always try to accommodate our/ Chaise's needs. If a student wants to put in the work and has the drive, Steven will help the student reach those goals and be successful. He continuously pushes Chaise to achieve all that he can and then some. Each student/goalie has their own style- Steven/Netscience is great at evaluating and will bring out the best in each individual player.
Typically, in May, he offers spring training outside (for free) to those that have participated in the on-ice camps. This too has been very beneficial in off ice development and training.
Chaise assists Steven/Net science in clinics with younger students This has also provided Chaise with a different perspective of knowledge and skill building.
In closing and speaking from a parent's point of view, when it comes to team practices, I certainly appreciate the volunteers that come out to help, however it has been very beneficial to have Netscience in Lloydminster and as an option to develop a goalie player. We came from a small town organization previously, where Chaise was not getting the "on hands" and professional training he needed to help build and develop his skills. After our first in year in Lloydminster and with Netscience Goaltending, I see a vast difference in Chaise. Chaise has continued to grow/develop and strives to grow and develop. Steven continues to encourage Chaise to go above and beyond. Let's face it, if Chaise is happy and I see the money I am putting out going into something beneficial, then I am happy. Chaise looks forward to the camps/clinics that are provided. He has done three a year as well as assisting and he never tires of it. I have never had a "repeat" session/clinic. The clinics/sessions adapt to what is required and player needed. This would indicate the vast areas of knowledge and skill level that can be
provided. Hands down the best service provided.
I cannot recommend Netscience camps enough if you have an aspirational goalie.

Steven is a passionate guy in every way: Life, professionalism, organization, coaching, learning, adaptation, empathy and more. This passion, in my mind, allows him to provide an incredible experience for the goalies (of all ages) that he has contact with.
He interacts very well with all ages. He is fair, but also has high expectations of each goalie’s effort. The goalies know this, respect it and always leave with a smile, red face and a high five. From a coaching/parent’s view, Steven has been excellent. He will take the time to listen, answer any questions you may have, and give advice as required.
His personable, professional personality carries forward to all facility staff.
His passion for the goalie position, the knowledge, attention to detail, willingness to learn, always trying to improve techniques and commitment to the kids. He is a student of the position. Steven’s “goalie skills” approach is much better than the traditional “goalie drills” approach. Each skill is broken down and developed progressively, which allows an understanding by beginner goalies right into the elite goalies. His attention to detail on each skill is second to none. He knows what he is teaching, he can and will pick out a detail on every goalie and have them fix it in a way they can understand.
My son is in U18 along with 2 others, so I have had many years to watch these kids evolve. Not only in skills but in goalie IQ, confidence, work ethic and accountability. Preparation, mobility, save selection, save execution, recovery, game management and being a good teammate are some of the key points I’ve seen. Is it realistic they will make the NHL at this point? No. But they are approaching or are playing at their potential and higher more of the time. Note : consistency is ongoing, therefore there are ups and downs throughout the season but that they discuss and actively fix with Steven. I definitely see a noticeable improvement yearly and over time. I do see the other age groups as well. I
see the same trends with them.
Steven’s method of teaching is based on progression, and ways of developing skills and understanding for both beginner and elite goalies. Volunteer goalie dads, or community Senior/Junior hockey goalies just can not offer this innovative, in depth training. Personally, I have played goal at a competitive level for 35+ years, love the game, and have tried to keep up with the evolution of goaltending. I cant possibly provide my child or other goalies what Steven does. I have learnt more from Steven in the past 10 years
than I had the previous 25. In saying that, I try and reinforce his lessons, at team practices and games, in between our visits.
I believe that we are going to start seeing more of our goalies playing at higher levels. These kids are fundamentally strong and continue to master skills at a fast rate.
Steven’s vision is to develop each goalie to the best of their potential and more. His practice plans are well thought out and delivered in a very strategic manner, that allows goalies to master a skill. One thing I really appreciate is he teaches the “WHY” behind the skill(s) that he is presenting. His ability to breakdown goalie skills and present it in a way goalies can understand, is key in my mind.
Steven is absolutely committed to developing character and confidence in young people.
I have never been disappointed in any Netscience camps, and my boys love training with him.
Training with Steven is challenging, cerebral and most important fun. Our goalies look forward to goalie clinics throughout the season. They can see the improvement in themselves and Steven reinforces it on the ice. As a parent, Steven does everything on and off the ice to a high standard. This is contagious with the kids. They work hard, think hard, set goals, and work towards achieving them. These are not only goalie skills, these are life skills. What more can you ask for your child.
We (Meadow Lake Minor Hockey) have brought in Steven from the beginning. We have
been extremely pleased with the training he provides and have already signed up for next
season.
My son has been in these goalie clinics every year, to several summer and mid season sessions, and will continue to do so. Steven offers many options for our young goalies.
Steven is actively working on an online program. I believe it is a progressive breakdown of skills, with video. This will be an excellent tool for volunteer goalie coaches/dads, team coaches and the athlete. When available, I will advocate for our minor hockey program to purchase. This program will give a better understanding in the skills of goaltending, and its all set up for you.
Thank you Steven,
Rick Dallyn
U18 Goalie Dad and Coach
Steven Larry (Mr. Steven) as my 2 Goalies call him has been a HUGE part of our Goalie development in the past 3 years.
Our daughter is on her first year of Goalie development, as she has just begun her journey, watching and being part of watching our son, Steven has inspired her to challenge the Goalie position at 14 years old and she believes with hard work, a great coach she will be playing on a team this year.
Our son Carter (13 years old) has had the most experience and truly amazing results and success in the last 2 years with Coach Steven. Carter went from being a first year Goalie in City League to making the U13 AA for his 2nd year as a Goalie (Lots of hard work in 1 season, 1 summer, including Goalie camps as well as Hockey Academy with Steven. Every session my son has taken has been of great value, from learning the basic skills, to advanced skills and implementing the " work hard to get to where you want to be motto” improving from a Beginner Goalie to an Elite Goalie
Coach Larry meets the Goalie where they are at and challenges them to ALWAYS do better continuing to push them to the next level of Excellence. We appreciate his usage of time, his presence on the ice as a coach with his "we are here to learn, work hard, enjoy the journey, give it your all attitude". Steven is always there early to say hello, prompt and organized with his programs and will often stay after to inform/talk/communicate with the Goalie and parents.
I believe it is truly important to have a Goalie coach and it would be an amazing gift to have one on a team. the value to have a goalie coach on a team would be Goalie development, unfortunately this is not provided till AAA which misses a huge window of development learning, confidence and skill which unfortunately causes us to lose Great Goalies due to the lack of support.
I believe the Key to a successful and bonded team is to build your teams confidence to include and value your goalies, to create that winning team not only on the score board but in each player.
Steven is one incredible coach that is all in, does not disappoint, let down on his word or commitment.
With our utmost highest recommendation
